Cecil Womack (born 1947) and his wife Linda (born 1952) had a long history before the release of their first duo album in 1983. Cecil was one of the gospel-singing Womack Brothers who became the Valentino’s and toured with Sam Cooke in the early '60s; Linda was Cooke's daughter. Both Womack’s were successful songwriters for such performers as Teddy Pendergrass, Wilson Pickett, and Aretha Franklin prior to hooking up as a performing team. The focus is on song writing in their collaboration; they began with Love Wars, which featured the Top 40 R&B hit "Baby I'm Scared of You." Radio M.U.S.I.C. Man (1985) contains unfinished Sam Cooke songs completed by the duo. It was followed by Conscience in 1988 and Family Spirit in 1991.
Womack and Womack have played at ‘The Dutch Birds Inn’ previously and really enjoyed the atmosphere but did not like the system provided by the preceding PA company. Womack and Womack were very satisfied with the solution we presented and the crowd were ecstatic with the results.
We took two Blacka BS15 subwoofers, two Blacka TFR 1502L and running them were, 2 Crown VZ5002 and 1 Crown XTi 2000, the signal processing was a DBX Driverack 480 and we equalized the front of house system with a BSS Opal Graphic Equaliser. We used our self manufactured Blacka FRW 1201 for monitors. (12” low, 1” high) For the microphones we used only the best; an assortment of Shure Beta and AKG microphones as well as the world renowned radio system, Shure Beta 58A, two of these systems were used. For a mixing console we decided upon an Allen and Heath Mix Wizard 16:4 with a 16 channel, 4 return, 25 metre Van Damme multicore. The outboard consisted of 2 Yamaha SPX990, 6 DBX 266XL compressor/limiters, 6 BSS AR-133 D.i. Playback was obtained via one Tascam MDCD1 and a 63amp 1 phase distribution rack provided the power.
Needless to say Womack and Womack were very impressed with the setup we provided for The Dutch Birds Inn. |
