Essa Academy approached us to discuss the installation of a live performance pa system for 3 individual rooms. The facilities were generally going to be used for public performances and vocal presentations. Due to budgetary constraints Essa required a mobile unit that could be transported into each venue and could house 8 Channels of Mobile microphones, amps, compressors and a 16 channel mixer and could simply plug in to the main PA. We initially installed a system into Lounge 31 in early 2007, but we have over the years had to drastically reduce the volume output of the system due to the growing residential population above and around the vicinity of the nightclub. We were initially asked to come over and visit Denton West Working Men's Club on a system support issue. The social club included two communal bar lounge areas and a large function hall. During our initial consultation with the clubs chairperson, we discovered that most of the speakers in the bar areas had not worked for years and the speakers that were working were not providing a high enough quality of sound. He also had aspirations to utilise the function hall as an event venue for live music, dj based events and as a venue for weddings and private party's. Under the direction of the club owners, we were initially instructed to install an extremely powerful sound system. After a number of complaints from the neighbors, we were then asked to scale the system down. Our engineers deliberated for short time and decided to replace our bigger system with our smaller touring range, this consisted of; 4 Blacka BS12 subwoofers, (12”) 2 Blacka TFR 1201 and a further four Blacka FRW 1201, we used 2 Crown Excess 1200 and 1 Crown Excess 500 to run the whole system and a DBX Driverack PA and an Allen and Heath Zone controller was set up to control the signal and processing. . Blacka Acoustics provided a turn-key solution for the students at Hulme Hall, Manchester. The students wanted an out and out rave, split into three sections; The Main Gallery, (1 & 2) The Cafe‘ area and the Atrium. We started with lighting the Entrance hall, using Parcan lighting with various coloured gels to wash the walls and ceiling, also illuminating the stairs leading up to the main gallery. In the gallery itself we used a number of LED lighting and pin spots, bringing the pictures and objects to life with a glorious up-wash effect, this worked tremendously in the open large spaces we took advantage of. In the Atrium a slightly different approach was taken, because a majority of surfaces are made of frosted glass we decided to illuminate the room from behind each glass panel, this enabled us to wash the room completely with a mass of colours working perfectly together. Ancoats came alive last weekend for the first time in years when hundreds of people descended on the eastern part of the city for a day of unusually organised events from space hopper racing and musical statues to a world record attempt for the longest conga line. The Whitchurch event needed a reliable turn-key solution that Blacka Acoustics were more than happy to provide. The system included  4 Blacka Acoustics Festival 12 mid/high cabs, 6 Blacka Acoustics BS18 Subwoofers and running them was the notorious Crown VZ5002. We used one of them for the subwoofers, one Crown iTech 8000 for the mid frequency range and one Crown XTi 2000 for the high frequencies, this powered the whole Front of House system.
