Dpercussion is a non-profit making free festival with 200 bands, nine stages, and it celebrates it's tenth birthday this year. The festival has a capacity for over 50,000 people. It happens within the urban environment of Castlefield basin. A redeveloped and underused area of Manchester city centre, this canalside setting has green lawns, a huge, purpose built, outdoor ampitheatre and several key bars and restaurants, all of which are utilised to their full potential only during the annual Dpercussion event.
For the event we utilised the Blacka Acoustics Touring Range which easily topped a whopping 36Kw! This system was made up with 8 Blacka BS18 (18”) subwoofers and a further 16 BS15 (15”) subwoofers. The system also included 16 Blacka TFR 1502L's, used to cover the mid/high range frequencies. ''The system was so loud, but still had perfect clarity, amazing!” as one performers commented, exiting the stage. For stage monitors we used 8 of Blacka TFR 1502 (15” low, 1” Compression driver,) The sound console used for the main stage was an Allen & Heath Mix Wizard 16:4 and the outboard taken was made up of; 3 BSS Opal Graphic Equalizers, 3 DBX 266XL compressors, 2 Yamaha SPX990 for effects and a Tascam Minidisk/CD player for playback. The Direct Injection boxes used on the stage were the BSS 133 D.i and the multicore used was a Van Damme 16 channel, 4 returns, 25 metres. This enabled Blacka to keep a safe distance from the stage and also to keep out of the way of the people dancing and having a great time at this free event.
